From 25 to 29 August 2024, Biotech Santé Bretagne (BSB) took part in Estonian HealthTech Week, held in Tallinn and Tartu, at the invitation of the Tallinn Tehnopol Science and Business Park.
“This event offered an insight into the Estonian e-health ecosystem, recognised as one of the most advanced in Europe. The country stands out for its particularly effective e-health reimbursement system and strong innovation momentum in the fields of digital health, medical technologies and biotech” according to Adeline Jacob, European health development and project manager at Biotech Santé Bretagne.

Discussions on the evaluation and reimbursement of e-health solutions
Biotech Santé Bretagne had the opportunity to meet with major stakeholders involved in the cost/benefit analysis of digital health solutions: healthcare system funders, a researcher from the University of Tallinn and an innovative company in the sector.
These discussions pave the way for future cooperation, particularly with our European DigiH4A project, which focuses on the issue of reimbursement and coverage for e-health solutions in Europe.
Towards new European projects
BSB’s presence in Estonia has also enabled to forge links with Tartu Biotechnology Park and to mobilise several Breton stakeholders to join the Horizon Europe AURORA-MH (AI and Biomarker-Enabled Unified Response for Optimised Recovery Assessment in Mental Health) consortium, which focuses on artificial intelligence and biomarkers applied to mental illness. “This European platform aims to improve the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of psychiatric disorders within European healthcare systems. We are particularly pleased that Brest University Hospital has joined this major project” explains Adeline Jacob.
A strategic partnership with Estonia
Beyond specific projects, this mission confirmed the wealth of potential exchanges between Brittany and Estonia, two driving forces in the field of digital health and biotechnology.
BSB is delighted to strengthen these bilateral partnerships and to continue working with its Estonian partners to develop innovative solutions for the healthcare of tomorrow.
